Modern Kitchen Opens Into Living Room

The homeowners love to cook and entertain and wanted to open the kitchen to the rest of the house so they could enjoy their guests when they entertained. When Aptitude Design & Build came to look at the project the functionality of the kitchen was important to make sure there was as much ease as possible when they entertained. All the appliances were relocated as a part of this project so we could maximize the space of the room and create a good flow in the kitchen. We relocated everything, including the kitchen sink! We wanted everything to be within arm’s reach for whoever was cooking so they could still be a part of the conversation while they cook.

When we took out the wall, we lost a lot of cabinets, so we needed to utilize the remaining space to give us as much storage as possible.We accomplished this by doing taller, deeper cabinets, doing pullout shelves, silverware organizers, double drawers (two drawers within one drawer), spice rack pullout, trash can pullout. We utilized every inch and were able to keep all the storage space.

Some of the details the Aptitude team really liked about this project was the unique waterfall edge on the island, the pendant lights, and the Persian tile we used to tie everything together.
