Bathroom Remodel in St. Louis with Bold Modern Finishes
Luxury Bathroom Remodel in St. Louis | Spa-Inspired Primary Suite Design
In this luxury bathroom remodeling project, Aptitude Design & Build transformed an awkward and disconnected layout into a sophisticated, spa-inspired retreat designed for both comfort and everyday functionality.
The homeowners wanted to preserve and expand their spacious walk-in closet while completely reimagining the adjoining bathroom to include both a soaking tub and a large walk-in shower. The challenge was creating enough room for both features without making the space feel crowded or disjointed.
A Smart Layout Designed Around Functionality
The original bathroom layout felt cramped and inefficient, limiting both flow and usable space. To solve this, Aptitude Design & Build developed a custom layout that integrated the tub directly within the walk-in shower enclosure, allowing both features to coexist while maintaining a clean, modern design.
This integrated tub-and-shower approach maximized functionality while creating a seamless visual flow throughout the room.
Luxury Features with Everyday Comfort
The finished bathroom incorporates a number of high-end features designed to create a true spa-like experience while improving day-to-day comfort and usability.
Integrated Tub and Shower
The soaking tub is positioned directly within the walk-in shower enclosure, creating a striking architectural feature while making efficient use of the available footprint.
Heated Floors and Towel Rack
Heated flooring throughout the bathroom and a heated towel rack located within the shower area add warmth and comfort year-round.
Multiple Showerheads
The custom shower includes multiple showerheads, allowing for a personalized experience that includes rainfall and handheld functionality.
Backlit Mirrors
Backlit mirrors provide soft ambient lighting while also improving functionality for makeup application and daily routines.
Zero-Entry Shower Design
The barrier-free, zero-entry shower creates a sleek modern appearance while improving accessibility and ease of use.
Bold Contrast and High-End Finishes
Visually, the bathroom balances dark and light elements to create a dramatic yet inviting atmosphere. Dark flooring, dark-trimmed glass doors, and matching black fixtures contrast beautifully against lighter tile selections and soft backlit accents.
One of the most striking design elements is the use of oversized 3x5-foot wall tiles within the shower enclosure, creating a clean, high-impact aesthetic with minimal grout lines and a more seamless appearance.
Throughout the space, the careful combination of contrasting tones, textures, and materials adds depth and sophistication while maintaining warmth and comfort.
A Cohesive and Luxurious Primary Suite
The finished renovation creates a primary suite that feels unified, functional, and highly personalized. The expanded walk-in closet now flows naturally into a bathroom designed around relaxation, efficiency, and modern luxury.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful space planning and bold design choices can transform a dated bathroom into a refined retreat that supports both everyday living and long-term comfort.
