Reimagining Kitchen & Bath
Phase One Home Renovation: Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel
This Phase One home renovation updated a never-remodeled 1985 house with a focus on functionality, low maintenance, and long-term livability. The project included a full kitchen remodel, hall bathroom renovation, new flooring throughout the main level, and upgraded lighting, creating a brighter, more open home while preparing for a second renovation phase.
Hall Bathroom Remodel: Durable and Easy to Maintain
The hall bathroom renovation replaced an original fiberglass tub, vinyl flooring, and dated finishes. Because this bathroom is used daily, the homeowners prioritized durability and easy maintenance.
An onyx shower system was selected instead of traditional tile, eliminating grout lines and simplifying cleaning while maintaining a clean, modern look. Additional updates included a comfort-height toilet, a low-profile shower curb for future accessibility, and lighted mirrors to provide even, direct lighting for daily routines.
Kitchen Remodel: Improved Layout, Light, and Storage
The kitchen remodel was the most impactful part of Phase One. The original layout included a peninsula and an awkward vestibule near the refrigerator that limited flow and usable space.
By removing walls, the kitchen was opened up significantly. The vestibule was incorporated into the kitchen footprint, increasing square footage and efficiency. A dark, enclosed pantry was removed and replaced with a coffee bar and wet bar featuring an additional sink.
These changes allowed natural light to travel from the front to the back of the house, making the kitchen feel larger, brighter, and more functional. The updated layout provides better workflow, increased storage, and a welcoming space for everyday living and entertaining.
Phase One Complete, Phase Two Ahead
Phase One completed the home’s major renovations, including new flooring throughout the main level and improved lighting across the first floor.
This phased renovation demonstrates how strategic design and thoughtful planning can modernize an older home while improving comfort, efficiency, and long-term usability.
